No men please were skint Indian airline set to

first_imgNo men, please we’re skint! Indian airline set to recruit only female flight attendants because they weigh less – and cost less.A flight staffed entirely by women? Is this a sexist joke, a lads’ mag dream or a feminist utopia? No, this is reality, or at least is set to become so in India by 2020. If you’re set to jet between Delhi and Chennai or hop from Lucknow to Goa with GoAir in the next few years, look out for a lack of blokes serving the diet cokes. And if you’re a man on the make for a job indicating that the nearest emergency exit may be behind you, forget about GoAir.The Indian low-cost carrier recently announced that it would in future be recruiting only female flight attendants. Why? Because the heavier a plane is, the more fuel it has to burn, which costs more. And in general, geezers are heavier than girls, so GoAir is looking for lightweight ladies, presumably preferably with less-full frames than the leanest of lads, to save them 30 million rupees (£329,000) a year in fuel costs. The no-frills operator said that no present cabin stewards would be shown the door, but every position recruited for on its 80 new aircraft by 2020 will be filled by the female of the species. The airline revealed that for each ‘extra’ kilogram of load that one of its planes carries costs it an additional three rupees per hour of flight. In cost-cutting drive, it has already slashed the size of its in-flight magazine by 50%, while its planes fly with their water tanks half-full.Do you think women-only flights are a good idea?
