Duke A. Pirak is the reviewing officer for the Fort Vancouver parade, which will start at the east end of Officers Row.• Battle Ground: Johnson, a retired Army officer, will lead the ceremony Friday at 11 a.m. at the Battle Ground Community Center, 912 E. Main St.The ceremony will include a flag presentation, a formal recognition of veterans and a reading of the names of 31 local men who died while serving and whose names are engraved on the wall of the Battle Ground Veterans Memorial.• Fort Vancouver: More than 120 entries totaling about 2,500 participants are expected for Saturday’s Fort Vancouver Veterans Parade.Things start with a 10 a.m. ceremony in Providence Academy, 400 E. Evergreen Blvd.Keynote speaker Pirak commands the Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Fighter Wing, based in Portland.Brown-Wahler served on six ships during her 20-year Navy career, including serving as executive officer on a guided-missile destroyer. She was part of combat operations in 1999, firing cruise missiles during the Kosovo conflict. She also completed two tours of Pentagon service.last_img
