Sometimes it’s as simple as re-releasing a dope retro sneaker sported by a superhero in a movie. Other times it involves exciting, vibrant colorways that mimic the aesthetic of the Seven Kingdoms’ finest. Pop culture crossovers are well-trodden ground at this point and as exciting as they are for fans of film, comics, television, and video games, it’s become rare to see something that feels innovative in the field. That changes with Nike’s announcement of their newest collaboration with Netflix juggernaut Stranger Things. The collection, which drops later this month just in time for the July 4 premiere of the show’s third season, features apparel and sneakers inspired by the world of the show. However, you aren’t just going to be getting a tee shirt with the Demagorgon on it or sneakers rocking the Eggo logo.Nike x ‘Stranger Things’ Hawkins High pack. The first line draws inspiration from Hawkins High School, featuring classic ‘70s Nike sneakers the Blazer, Tailwind, and Cortez. Each features the school’s green and orange colors as well as the Hawkins Tigers logo. The Blazer and Cortez each have a primary white base with accents and swooshes in the school colors while the Tailwind comes in a deep green with an orange swoosh logo. This collection will be available come June 27.Nike x ‘Stranger Things’ ‘OG’ Pack (Photo Credit: Nike)A few days later, on July 1, the second drops. This one features the same sneakers in new colorways inspired by the Fourth of July, 1985. The sneakers come in holiday-appropriate red (Cortez), white (Tailwind), and blue (Blazer). These kicks don’t feature the Hawkins logo but instead have the year stamped on the heel and feature a fireworks-speckled sock liner.Nike x ‘Stranger Things’ Hawkins High apparel (Photo Credit: Nike)In addition to the shoes there’s a dope line of apparel dropping meant to mimic Hawkins phys-ed uniforms. Don’t worry, gym uniforms are in now. Trust me, your cool friend who knows stuff about fashion/is assuming they’re cool now because why else would Nike make them? Nike is cool. If Nike says gym uniforms are cool, I believe them.Nike x ‘Stranger Things’ Hawkins High apparel (Photo Credit: Nike)Keep an eye out for the Nike x Stranger Things collection later this month on the Nike SNKRS app — the shoes and apparel are sure to sell out quick. And after that, cross your fingers and pray for a Stranger Things-inspired drop around Season 4 that includes two of the best sneakers of the late ‘80s — the Air Max 1 and Air Tech Challenge 2 — because that would be rad.More on Geek.com:Epic Games Launches ‘Fortnite’ Crossover With Air JordansNike Fit App Uses AR to Help You Determine the Right Shoe SizeNike Kyrie 5 ‘UFO’ Brings Conspiracy Theories to Sneakers Stay on targetlast_img
