first_imgfor Valentine rush NORWALK – Los Angeles County gets more requests for marriage licenses on Valentine’s Day than any other day – and the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk’s Office, 12400 Imperial Highway, is gearing up for the onslaught. “It’s always been our busiest day of the year to perform ceremonies,” Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Conny McCormack said. “On Feb. 14, 2006, we issued 269 marriages licenses and performed 189 civil marriage ceremonies.” On an average day, the County Clerk’s Office hands out 214 licenses and performs 42 ceremonies, officials said. Couples should call ahead for an appointment for a marriage ceremony. The marriage license fee is $70, plus a $25 fee for the civil ceremony. For more information, (562) 462-2189. Baseball exhibit seeks donations WHITTIER – The Whittier Historical Society Museum’s next exhibit will celebrate the all-American game of baseball.
