Huawei introduces its mining solution in Africa for the first time

Huawei says its “groundbreaking wireless solution is the first of its kind in Africa [delivering] SCADA data, voice, video and trunking on one single integrated platform, enabling real-time transmission, unified dispatching and precise underground positioning with comprehensive coverage above ground. The picture shows a simulated flood resistance test.“With ultra broadband to support a rich variety of multimedia data services and clear communication, Huawei is the only vendor who can provide multimedia cluster scheduling platforms that support both audio and video services.”Huawei’s offering provides seamless wireless communication with one network which connects the entire mine area onto one platform allowing for more efficient and timely communication. This makes the solution easy to deploy and easy to maintain, therefore cost savings will be significant. This intrinsically safe equipment offers underground distance coverage of up to 1,000 m. Huawei says it “is currently the only vendor in the industry who can achieve this.”This feature together with Huawei’s water-proof and explosion-proof terminals, which have been proven to support hi-quality voice and video in harsh mining environments, ensure ad hoc communications for rapid rescue responses in emergency situations. Mines are now able to access precise underground positioning and with real-time video on their devices, monitoring and control staff no longer need to rely on voice communication alone to handle critical incidents.“Huawei’s wireless communication solution offers high performance, high safety and high efficiency qualities. It will improve safety standards within current mine environments and in turn, will allow mining companies to gain a competitive edge and to gain a significant return on their investment.” says James Mulebeke, Director of Energy & Mining of Huawei Enterprise for Eastern and Southern Africa. “The solution is ready to be deployed. We look forward to partnering with our customers to roll-out this innovative solution in Africa, and will be proud to see it come into effect.”Huawei was the first to launch the 100 MB professional broadband trunking solution based on LTE technology last year and the solution is designed to address the evolution of trunking technology, from voice to multimedia within private networks in vertical industries such as the mining sector.Developed based on industry service needs and work characteristics, Huawei’s solutions are able to integrate with solutions offered by partners, providing customers with the greatest reliability and the best processing performance.last_img read more
